Pitch Blog

Hey, it’s me again and this time I’m going to try an narrow down my pitches I stated in my last blog. Out of the three pitches my teammate and I decided on we chose the first and third pitches. These pitches are the the ‘Dangerous Love’ pitch and the ‘Life Gone Wrong’. Dangerous Love is a horror flick while Life Gone Wrong is a more comedic and action packed film. I feel both of which are and can shape up to be great movies if I can film and edit correctly and smoothly. With only being able to film the first two minutes of the movie this proves a challenge. I would have to include a plot, overalls setting, introduce main characters, and give hints and foreshadow into what’s to come. I really love these two ideas because they seem more unique than any other movie out right now. Both of these movies have also seen to spike interests in many countries across the world. Now let’s begin to go a bit deeper into these pitches.
The pitch of ‘Dangerous Love’ is , “A love crazy girl believes she’s met the guy of her dreams, but it quickly proves to be the guy of her nightmares.” This first pitch shows that no matter what you think may be right you always have to be careful. Sometimes the person you least expect is going to be the person who you have to be expected of. The girl named Scarlet always wanted a relationship like the ones in the movies, the crazy encounter and the true love ending. Instead, she found a guy who became obsessed, possessive, and manipulative. When she tries to leave, he stalks her and swears he will do anything to make her his again. While his ambitions turn deadly she must fight to stay alive and when all else fails she may have to do it herself. With no one to aid her and her “loved one” having all the seeming advantages against her what’s she going to do? How will he prevail or will she fall victim like the others before her? Scarlet will show you all of this in this movie.
The pitch for ‘Life Gone Wrong’ is , “Lifelong friends gone broke. Their last resort, robbing a bank. They aren’t the sharpest, but this may play in their favor.” This movie has the potential to be both comedic and action packed and all in all a movie for all to enjoy. The story of two lifelong friends and their road to riches comes crashing down when they realize they’re in debt and behind several months on their rent. Their plan,  robbing a bank for all it’s money. It may sound dumb, it’s because they are dumb, but this may play in their favor somehow. Two idiots, dumb police, and even dumber crew members this has disaster written all over it? How will they do it and most importantly will they get away with it? Rodo and Willis the two main characters were never top of their class, but they may have came up with the best, but unthought i’d plan ever. This movie will leave you wanting more and more and at the edge of your seat. So, why wouldn’t you want to watch a movie that can make you laugh and keep your nerves as a factor?
In the end, my partner and I decided to choose Life Gone Wrong as our pitch to film and make real. Even though we feel this would be a bit of a challenge to work with we feel we’re ready for it. Rodo and Willis seem fit to make a movie out of and the fact that the movie is both action and comedy makes it a double whammy. To begin, I love making people laugh so the script should not be that difficult to write. The difficult part will be storyboarding and editing which I feel very confident and proficient at, on a good day though. I can’t wait to apply my skills in film making to make this pitch reality and making that reality beautiful. I’ve always wanted to make a movie and this will be my first every chance to do so and I plan on doing it in a memorable and fantastic way. I also can not wait for the adventure ahead and see what obstacles are thrown in my way. So again we went the idea of Life Gone Wrong because we feel we have a bit more to use for that movie. Thank you so much for listening and have a nice day!

Start of the Final Task

Hello, my name is Jeffery Love. I attend Fort Lauderdale High School and I’m currently in my sophomore or otherwise known as 10th grade year. I’m 16 years old and I consider myself mature for such a young age. I consider myself a fun and outgoing person, definitely the life of the party some may say. I love to hang out with friends whether it be at the beach or at one of their house’s and I do this a lot during the weekend of course. I also love to play video games, they are my getaway when my school and social life get really stressful and out of hand. I also love watching Gordon Ramsay videos on youtube, it’s something about him yelling at people that really makes me laugh. I plan on doing the Final Task with Sage as shes proven to be a reliable partner and we also work really well together. This project proves to be a obstacle that I’m ready to tackle and do really well on. My partner and I have narrowed down many pitches we came up with for the movie and have decided to tell you about the three we have so far.
Before I tell you though, I’d like to reflect on my progress in this class and many of the skills I have taken on. First and foremost, I learned how to properly use a camera. I specifically learned how to properly film, hold, and handle the cameras provided to me by my teacher. I also learned how to edit on different applications such as Pinnacle Studios. To add on, I also learned how to storyboard and how to us mis en scene to my advantage in the film making process. One of my favorites is how to use editing to make clips and footage appear and move much more smoothly. Further, I used editing to shorten or lengthen clips to make the run time of the finished project appropriate. The talents I’m most excited to use are editing and filming. Of course these two are the most important in the film making process, but these are also the hardest to do. Somehow I feel I got these in the palm of my hand and I’m ready to prove it.
To end, I wi be telling you my pitch ideas for my final task. A pitch is a Hollywood term used to describe an idea in 25 words a less. My first pitch is ,  “A love crazy girl believes she’s met the guy of her dreams, but it quickly proves to be the guy of her nightmares.” My second is , “She’s hiding something, something dark. Will she be able to hide it forever or will her luck run out?” And my last one is , “Lifelong friends gone broke. Their last resort, robbing a bank. They aren’t the sharpest, but this may play in their favor.” The first two pitches are meant to be a part of the horror genre and the last pitch is meant to be comedic/action packed.

Editing Blog

Today in class I began editing my music video. It didn't really take that long compared to the last time I edited a video. I dumped the footage from the camera we used to record the day before we edited so my team didn't have to waste any class time doing that. I took an SD card reader to import the footage to the laptop to be able to edit. As soon as I entered class, my teammate grabbed the laptop and we got straight to work so we had plenty of time to finish in one class period. I finished editing with time to spare to email my teacher the finished product and also begin working on this blog. Editing the music video was fairly easy and adding the transitions and switches to scenes were really cool. Adding the music and finding the perfect place to put certain lyrics was a little tricky, but I got in done. Out of the editing process for the commercial and music video the music video was by far the easier and quicker one. This may be due to the fact that I'm a little more experienced now.
To begin I first made sure our footage was on that specific laptop my team was using. I did this by checking through the computer’s files and looking at the most recently imported. That’s where I seen my footage and I then went to open Pinnacle Studios to start working on my music video. My teammates and I had to chose between many different takes, but we narrowed it down to the best looking ones and the scenes that really fit most to the vibe of the song. I then adjusted the length of some of the clips by cutting them so the video appeared to run much smoother then the first watch. Then I went online to find the song that my group chose which was Teenage Dream. I had to make sure I was using the right version of the song because there was a lot of covers and remixes made by other parties that weren’t the actual song or were performed by different people. I found the right version and started importing it to Pinnacle Studios which took around ten to fifteen minutes to finish. Once finished I added it to the video and did my best to mesh it perfectly to the cuts and transitions in the footage. Once my teammates and I finished that we watched the video a couple times over to make sure it was good and to our liking.
After we watched it a couple times and made it the best we could I went to send it to my teacher so it could be graded. I then discussed with my teammates how I think we did a really good job on the music video overall. Editing this time around was a breeze and only took one class period compared to the two class periods it took for the commercial. My teammates were also a huge help in making this experience really enjoyable and much more easy this time around. The laptop we used was super quick and really compatible with the WiFi and helped us move on from the editing portion relatively quickly. The short amount of time I took allowed me to start my blog in class and get it done in that class. I think the more I edit the more and more I will get better at it and the shorter amount of time it will take me. The entire process of editing from dumping the footage onto my laptop to sending the finished product to my teacher was very fun. I can’t wait for my next editing project so I can see how much I’ve improved in that area. Thank you everyone for reading!

Filming Blog

Hello everyone! Over Thanksgiving break my team and I began and finished filming our music video. I filmed on Wednesday at Lauderdale-By-The-Sea by Anglins Pier. I arrived a little later than everyone else, but as soon as I got there we got right into filming. I also invited one of my friends to come, so we had more actors and a bit more help. Overall we had a great time filming at the beach, it was really enjoyable. The weather was nice as it was just the right temperature and the lighting wasn't bad. Not many people were at the beach which was very surprising for it being the first day of break. We took about 5 minutes deciding where we should start filming and finally compromised by the bathrooms. On the walk there we shared about our commutes there and how we feel this is going to be a good filming day.
The first scene was recorded by a pink bathroom door and we chose this because it was the most vibrant and upbeat color out of all the other doors. We then filmed our walk from the bathroom to the beach. We had to fake a conversation between us to make it appear we were actually talking instead of just walking. The next scene we filmed was us arriving at the beach after our commute from the bathroom. As our feet touched the sand we ran towards the ocean ready to begin the fun. Teenage Dream is a bit of a long song so my teammates pretended to be a couple trying to enjoy some alone time but being constantly taken apart by their friends. One scene was me getting pushed into the water by one of the girls and I got to get wet which was really good to be honest. The next scene was the “couple” holding hands and walking down the shoreline. While they were enjoying themselves I split the boy up from the girl by lifting him up and carrying him away. Let’s just say he was kind of heavy and was glad the scene was over when it was.
My next scene was the group walking from the beach to the ice cream shop. We went and bought ice cream (well my teammate’s mom did) and we recorded us sitting down and talking while enjoying the treat. We then recorded us looking at puppies through the store front and they were so cute. The next and final scene was us walking away about to say our goodbyes. The “couple” hugged and mid way through we pulled them apart and went our separate ways. Overall the filming was really fun for all of us. We got to spend quality time with each other while getting some work done. The next step is to edit and put our video together and add the music. I can’t wait to see how the music video turns out, to be honest I feel it’s going to be so good. Thank you for listening!

Filming Blog

Hello guys I’m back! I wasn't able to film over the weekend so this blog is all about it. I was busy all weekend, so I couldn’t film. I also couldn’t check out a camera in time. I was busy with family things and church over the weekend so that’s why I couldn’t film. My teammates also were pretty busy with work and other things. I have decided we should just film over Thanksgiving break instead of the weekend. My teammates and I collectively decided on Wednesday around 3:30. And if we need to film more we will do it around Sunday at the same time. Now here’s the exact plan for our filming process.
I’m filming on Wednesday at 3:30 because it’s the only day we are all relatively free. One of my teammates also has work until 3:30 so that’s why we are waiting that late. We would have to get all our footage in before the sun sets. We’re filming at the beach because it seems like a place where a lot of teens hang out at and just live life to the fullest. I am also inviting a couple other friends to come film with us so it’s kind of a group thing. The more the merrier and it looks like we’re having much more fun. My teammates and I decided if we don’t get our footage in then we will go and film again sometime during the weekend. We are using the song Teenage Dream and feel it’s a really good song to use at the beach. It also is a good song to express happiness and positivity. That’s pretty much it for a filming plan.
So, in conclusion I didn’t film my music video yet and in that time I just solidified our music video plan. I already checked out a camera and tripod to use to film. I also bought a new bathing suit for the beach. I’m so ready to start filming the music video and I’m so excited. I can’t wait to go spend some quality time with friends and just enjoy some time off from school to do something enjoyable. Now all I have to do is wait for the day to come. I feel like my group is going to make a great music video and is going to enjoy every moment of the process. I loved doing the commercial so I think this will be very close to it and be just as much fun. My group and I may go and revise and make sure our plan is good and won’t fall out in the coming days to the date. Thanks for reading and listening to my filming plan.

Storyboard Blog

I’m back !! So this blog is for our story board.A story board is like an outline of how The ideal filming process will go, each box is six seconds of the music video. So for our first slide, we’re coming out of the house and we’ll throw a ball to someone behind the camera. This shot will be a close-up and a zoom in so it will look like we are throwing it at the camera. Then we will do a jump cut to someone catching the ball at the beach and serving in a volleyball game. After the game we’ll all come in for drinks. We will begin to isolate the two main characters which will be a “couple “ they will be having a conversation but it will be in inaudible. This shot won’t be a full close up because we still want it to make it known that the other people are there. The two will then walk down the beach as we do a tracking shot. they’ll stop and the male actor will caress the females cheek and slowly lean in. when the line “we can dance until we die” everyone else will come in and interrupt them. This will go from a close-up to a wide shot. We all discuss about going to get ice cream, and begin the walk (or drive if needed) to the ice cream shop. We all enter the ice cream shop happy and laughing. This will be an establishing shot. The girls go get the table and the boys will go get the ice cream while the girls laugh and talk. This shot will be a normal eye level shot. When the boys come back, we’ll all have a conversation about random things and we’ll all be smiling. This will also be an eye level shot. We head back to the cars and drop everything in the cars as we go to the pet store. This will be another tracking shot. When we get there, all the girls start admiring the puppies. This will be an establishing shot. We find a puppy and have a guy take a picture of all of us. This shot will be a wide shot. In the end, the two leads will be walking back to their cars together and in the end the male will stop the female and we’ll do a face out with their foreheads pressed together. The final shot will be a close up.

Now we're going to talk about where we're going to film and what our back up location is.We've decided to film at Lauderdale-By-The-Sea (Fort Lauderdale beach), it's the ideal area for the scene of our song. We are going to ask permission to make sure we are allowed to film there. Our back up location is my partner's backyard because she has a pool. Now it's time to talk about health and safety. Our ride to the beach is our parents. They will be there to take us to and from our set location to ensure that we will be safe. For our props we are bringing volley balls, beach balls, footballs, etc. The idea of filming at the beach is for us to have fun and capture it on camera. Now my favorite part of filming, costumes! For costumes Sage will be wearing her neon orange swimsuit and a white cover-up, she will also bring clothes such as shorts and a hoodie. Taylor will be wearing a white bathing suit top with acid washed cut off jean shorts, she will also be bringing an over sized sweater. I will be wearing swimming trunks and a white wife beater, I will also be bringing a jacket.
