Editing Commercial

So today was a complete disaster. The computers we were supposed to edit on crashed and the connection wasn’t working. We should’ve expected this since they're from 2008. Now we have to wait until my teacher receives new laptops. We also have to wait until Pinnacle Studios goes back up on some desktops. I really did think my partner and I could edit today to get it over with and move on to the next step. It looks like the process will take longer than expected. The more we wait the more anxious we get to begin editing. Hopefully our school provides us with good equipment so we don’t have to go through this again. I really want to be right back on schedule.
After filming, we returned to class to dump. This is where we thought we would begin editing a bit. After we dumped we tried to edit, but it wasn’t working for some reason. We then decided to wait until next class to begin editing. When next class approached we still weren’t able to edit our commercial and we grew frustrated. Now today we got the news our computers our down and we will not be able to edit. That disappointed my partner and I, but we decided to talk what we’d do when we actually edit. We talked about all our shots and how what specific edits we will be doing. We know it will be hard work and we’re up for the challenge. The editing process may have came to a halt, but we will be prepared.
The amount of work we’ll have to do in the amount of time may not be ideal, but we will make make it work. I had to upload our footage into Google Drive to be able to still have our footage on any computer. We did this because the desktops will be wiped clean and we might’ve lost our work if we left it on the computer. As we wait the more I anticipate to get started. I really feel like this will be a fun process overall. Instead of editing we are making this blog to tell you all about my struggles with editing. It’s been very difficult and frustrating but we all as a class are making this work. Soon we will all be making the best commercials ever. And until then we will remain prepared. Bye guys have a nice day.

Filming Blog

Hey guys! Today in class I started filming my commercial with my partner. At first I was pretty nervous because I thought I wouldn't be a good actor, but at the end of class I felt really confident in my work. I did several takes of each scene to ensure the commercial would have a variety of scenes to choose from and not limit our selections on scenes. My partner was the camerawomen and did a great job filming each scene and making minor adjustments to scenes to better our commercial. I recorded on the track which I regret because it got so hot and I was ready to quit. But, I braved through the heat and finished my takes and made my way back to class. The whole process was really enjoyable throughout. I really can't wait to film more in the future. Also I can't wait to see where these skills can take me.
Before I began filming, I had to change into my costume for the commercial. After my partner and I made our way to the track to begin filming. The track was pretty filled when we began, but we made ends meet and the put up with the background noise. We started with me running on the track and in that heat I felt tired almost immediately. After my running scenes were shot, we began my bleacher scene where I had to wipe my sweat off with my towel and drink the water we were advertising (Zephryhills). Our next shot was me walking back to the track with the water in hand, taking one last sip, and starting to run again. I then made a voiceover for the part describing the water further advertising it. We took three takes of each scene to make sure we didn't lose any and always had options. After this we started to head back to class. On our way there I got back into my original outfit and discussed my favorite parts with my partner.
When I got to class we began dumping our footage onto our desktop. We had to dump then upload them to Pinnacle Studios to be safe and ensure we lost no footage. This part took forever due to our school’s slow computers we’re provided with. When my partner and I finally dumped our day's work we let out a collective sigh of relief. I then returned our camera, tripod, SD card, and SD card reader to our teacher and signed out to prove I’ve done so. The day was long, but also a lot of fun. The filming process would probably be my favorite part of this entire process. I loved it so much and feel as if I did a terrific job on my end. I'm most excited to see my footage in class. I’ll keep you guys updated. Jeffery, out.

Planning Blog

Today in class we are making our plan for our commercial. My partner and I have to go over many things to use as props, costumes, and make our schedule. We will also need to include our locations in which we film and a backup plan just in case we are unavailable to access any of the things listed. It is crucial to get these things down to ensure a smooth, orderly film process and to also avoid missteps in the process. I believe we will be using the track for filming to represent a thirsty athlete ready to take a sip of his/her water. The runner will be wearing shorts, a thin shirt, and running shoes. I love the idea of this very much and can't wait to begin filming soon.

Props:
-Zephyrhills water bottle
-Small towel (for sweat)
-Map of Florida

Costume:
-Shorts(white)
-Thin shirt(black)
-Running shoes(black)
-Medium length socks(black)

Schedule:
October 15th- Editing lesson and start our storyboard.
October 21st- CCR Lesson and get approval of our storyboard.
October 23rd- Start filming at track (get most of the commercial, if not all, done.)
October 25th- Get more clips in just in case or finish the filming process. We will also start editing today.
October 29th- Finish editing our commercial (final project)

Location List:
-Track
-Bleachers (near track)

Back-up plan:
In case we can't film on the track we will film in front of building 17 and/or in front of the cafeteria. We will be able to improvise on the costume by being able to switch up colors freely without major consequences. Our schedule is pretty set and can't really be behind it if we wish to have a good commercial with a better grade.

Research Codes and Conventions (Zephyr-hills)

Zephryhills water commercials are usually constructed of many distinct factors. There's no acting in these commercials, they are mostly made of words on the screen explaining the features of the water with pictures added in. In the commercials, there’s a narrator talking with an upbeat tune playing in the background. The tune is used to make the viewer happy and encourage the viewer to buy the product. The words displayed on the screen are put in nice big colorful fonts. At the end of the commercial, the narrator usually includes nice catchy phrases and includes the companies motto.
During the commercial, the narrator talks about the features of the Zephryhills water. She adds kind words, talking about what type of water it is, 100% spring water, and where the water is from and distributed to. She also adds in words like “Fresh tasting” and “From right here” to persuade the viewer how good the water is. The colors used in the commercial are Blue, orange, white, and yellow because that’s the color used by their company to represent Zephryhills water. They use these colors because they are vibrant and eye catching. In the commercial, they use animations of A sun and people. Graphic match is typically used throughout the commercial.

Intro Blog

What's up everybody, my name is Jeffery. I would like to consider myself as a very down to Earth person. My friends describe me as a hilarious, cool, and outgoing person. I spend most of my free time playing video games, hanging out with friends, and enjoying some quality time with my family. I really enjoy playing basketball because it’s one of my many favorite sports. School is a place where I don’t want to be but have to be in order to succeed. I often dislike school due to the amount of work I receive and if school wasn’t so work heavy I’d like it a whole bunch more. Even though I dislike work I go really hard towards it and ensure I get most of it done. My parents don’t tolerate slackers as well so that contributes to my intense work drive.
I love food. Anything food i can eat as long as it doesn’t have mayonnaise, tomatoes, and too much sugar. I hate sushi and any other fish cuisine except shellfish. My favorite pizza is (I know it’s weird) ham and mushroom. Every time i get soda it’s either Sprite or Dr.Pepper, but i much rather have water. Also I can eat a lot, like 4 helpings of dinner a lot. I really have a taste for any European, Latin, and Island cuisine. Much because I was raised of those kind of foods. One of my favorite desserts i get a lot at restaurants is like a chocolate filled brownie on top of vanilla ice cream. It’s so heavenly to eat after you’ve had your main course.
I am a sophomore and I take eight classes. My first period is AICE Marine and for the most part is really easy so far in my opinion. My second period is AICE Media Studies which proves to be a very interesting class. Third period is World History and it’s my favorite subject by far. Fourth period is AICE English and it’s not that hard of a class, but is my least favorite subject by far. My fifth period is Team Sports and it’s my favorite class because there is no work and students just get to have fun. My next class is study hall, isn’t much to talk about but gives me a break to do homework or other assignments. My seventh period is Criminal Justice and it’s the most interesting class I have as it’s helps me prepare for my future dream career, to become a detective. Well that was a lot wasn’t it.
See you later,
Jeffery
