Editing Blog

What’s up guys! Lately nothing much has changed in the what I’ve done during this “Corona Virus Break”. There isn't much to blog about besides what I’ve done and why I cannot film or do my CCR. The Corona Virus has made it difficult for me to do much outside of my house. My partner has also been unable to meet up with me to finish our project which can prove difficult for it to even get finished. My parents are tentative on letting me leave my house to even go grocery shopping or to go play basketball with friends. I have been playing video games, cleaning, and just sitting around my house bored because there is nothing to do. Especially because I have to limit how much I play video games because my dad is very anti-gaming for extended periods of time. I started to read all my Harry Potter books again but got very bored of that as well. Now here‘s, in detail, what I’ve done since Monday.
So Tuesday morning I woke up and took my dog outside so he can go do his business. From there, I did all my morning chores and went and turned on my PlayStation and logged on and started playing 2k. My friends invited me to a party (where we can all talk and play different games) and we enjoyed ourselves for about two hours. I got off the game and just scrolled on TikTok for a lengthy amount of time until it was time for dinner. Wednesday was much of the same as I did nothing different from Tuesday. Thursday I didn’t play on my PlayStation instead I went out and played football with my brother to pass the time. Today I woke up around 7 A.M. to go get a laptop from my school so I can do my online assignments that I will be assigned in the coming days. We got to my school around 8:30 and didn’t leave until around 10:00 so you can say we waited a while. But it was all worth it when I was able to get my laptop to do my work for school more efficiently. I got home and got on my PlayStation for a little then went out and played football again. Thank you for listening, bye guys stay safe!

Filming Blog

What’s up guys! This blog is basically going to be about how school and all my plans got cancelled due to being quarantined by Covid-19. I was going to reshoot over the weekend, but was unable to because my parents felt it was unsafe for me. I was also unable to leave my house over the weekend for any reason so it would’ve been difficult to convince my parents to go out and film. The spread of this virus makes me anxious as to whether or not I will be able to re-film anytime soon. Seeing countries like Italy be fully quarantined can show signs to my future so I’m growing more concerned about the situation. My partner and I were planning to go back to the house and to re-film. But, that isn’t looking promising anymore or even in the remote future. My weekend was super boring and all I did was sit around in my house. So, now that my rant is out of the way I can tell you guys what exactly I did.
When I arrived home on Friday, I got straight into doing my homework. When I finished I seen I got a text from my friend Leo saying they cancelled school next week and was super happy. I slowly realized that my school schedule like testing and grades can be affected by this. I grew concerned, but it slowly left my mind when my friends and I started talking about plans and stuff we could do. That all went to waste when my parents said I wasn’t going to be allowed outside the house anytime soon. This whole situation doesn’t benefit me at all because I have AICE testing coming up and I don’t know how it’ll go. Saturday, I woke up and I played video games with my friends and cleaned my house up a little so my mom wouldn’t be mad. I went out shopping to try and find some food and another necessities and I did find quite a lot, but not as much as we would need for two weeks of quarantine. I really wish this will all end soon so I have a lot of stuff figured out and I’m ensured of certain things that are variables right now. Later guys!

Editing Blog

What’s up guys! From Sunday to now I did not have a chance to go back and edit my video more. With tests and studying I barely had any time to do anything outside of those things. I also had a lot of homework which is pretty abnormal for my classes. But, this weekend my partner and I are planning to reshoot and re-edit our film. We have set up a place to film and the time we will do it. We also made times on when we will re-edit and who will edit what. I will be in charge of editing the first minute and eight seconds of the video while my partner will handle the rest. I know you may think well how is that going to work, but it has been pretty effective so far and it’s gone really smooth. Now I’m going to get in to why it was hard for me to find time to edit and look over my video for the past three days.
On Monday, I had a huge test in AICE Marine Science that I’ve been super stressed about. I don’t think I did good, but I will have to see when my teacher puts in the grade. I had to also study that night for a math test I was having the next day and that took me from when I got home to when dinner was ready. On Tuesday, I studied a bit more in my study hall for my math test and that’s usually where I do most of my Media Studies work. After school I had to clean up my house and then do my math homework and Marine homework which was due next class. It was getting really stressful but I think I handled it well. On Wednesday, I was told to read a book for my English Law class which took me roughly 4 hours to do because I procrastinated and got interrupted throughout me reading the book. I also went home early because I felt ill and wanted to make sure I didn’t contract the Corona Virus. Fortunately I did not and just triggered my bronchitis. Today, which is Thursday, I came home and did all the essays and make up work I had to do for my Criminal Justice class.

Editing Blog

Hey guys! After filming, it was time to edit all the clips together to make the play through smooth. The editing process can take a while if you don’t know what you’re doing or what tools you should use. Instead of using Pinnacle Studios this time my partner and I decided to use iMovie. iMovie is an app on IOS devices which I was able to edit on. Since I was new at it, I watched a lot of youtube videos to try and see options and skills I could learn to speed up the process in which I was going. I got the hang of it eventually and my partner even edited the movie with me so I didn’t have a full workload. We played the video over and over and it seemed to be a bit choppy so we added some transitions into the video. The video wasn’t fully edited around the time peer review came along, but I went with what I got. I received feedback on how to better my editing and make the video less
choppy but was unsure how I was going to get them done because I was rather a novice at iMovie.
I was stuck, but I remembered that one of my friends that also had AICE Media Studies uses iMovie to edit their videos. I texted him and asked if I could go over to his house and he could help me make my video run smoothly and to help fix the choppiness. We decided I’ll go over on Saturday and get help on my video. When I got there Saturday we got straight to work on editing my video. He talked me through editing and suggested a few transitions I didn’t know we’re possible for my video. With his help I was able to remove any choppiness from my cut of the movie. After we watched each other’s videos and gave compliments to each other. After I finished editing, we decided to go to our friend Brooke’s birthday party which was really fun and stress relieving. I felt confident in my half of the video and when my partner and I finished and combined them it ran smoothly to our surprise. Thank you see you next time guys!

Peer Review Blog

Hey guys! In class today we were able to give constructive criticism and help to our classmates on their final projects. We peer reviewed them to ensure they had no errors like choppiness or audio black outs. Peer reviewing helped me get a view from an outside party giving me neutral feedback. The ability of being able to do this gives students many positive outlooks like them having a great video. We also were able to compare videos allowing us to be inspired to add certain types of music or title design ideas. Allowing students to peer review also set up more constructive conversations in the class on how to improve videos. My partner and I did our best to review our partner’s video so he could get the best advice he could. I think this helped him out a lot because I provided him with tips and advice to better his video. Now let’s get into the actual experience I had while doing this.
I entered class and I checked the board to see who I was peer reviewing. Once I knew who it was I went and grabbed a peer review sheet and filled out my partner’s and my name. I then approached the people peer reviewing us and sent them our video. After I approached the kid we were peer reviewing and my partner and I watched the video. We watched it about 3 times to ensure we didn’t miss anything that he may have needed help on or something that went wrong. I filled out the sheet as best as I could with what I saw and talked to him about what he can improve and what was good about the video. After we finished I took a picture of my completed peer review sheet and then went to the group that was peer reviewing my video. They gave me some really good feedback on what to improve like to add music to certain parts. Their advice gave me a great idea on what to reshoot and re-edit in the coming week. Thank you for listening, bye!
