Filming Blog

Hello guys I’m back! I wasn't able to film over the weekend so this blog is all about it. I was busy all weekend, so I couldn’t film. I also couldn’t check out a camera in time. I was busy with family things and church over the weekend so that’s why I couldn’t film. My teammates also were pretty busy with work and other things. I have decided we should just film over Thanksgiving break instead of the weekend. My teammates and I collectively decided on Wednesday around 3:30. And if we need to film more we will do it around Sunday at the same time. Now here’s the exact plan for our filming process.
I’m filming on Wednesday at 3:30 because it’s the only day we are all relatively free. One of my teammates also has work until 3:30 so that’s why we are waiting that late. We would have to get all our footage in before the sun sets. We’re filming at the beach because it seems like a place where a lot of teens hang out at and just live life to the fullest. I am also inviting a couple other friends to come film with us so it’s kind of a group thing. The more the merrier and it looks like we’re having much more fun. My teammates and I decided if we don’t get our footage in then we will go and film again sometime during the weekend. We are using the song Teenage Dream and feel it’s a really good song to use at the beach. It also is a good song to express happiness and positivity. That’s pretty much it for a filming plan.
So, in conclusion I didn’t film my music video yet and in that time I just solidified our music video plan. I already checked out a camera and tripod to use to film. I also bought a new bathing suit for the beach. I’m so ready to start filming the music video and I’m so excited. I can’t wait to go spend some quality time with friends and just enjoy some time off from school to do something enjoyable. Now all I have to do is wait for the day to come. I feel like my group is going to make a great music video and is going to enjoy every moment of the process. I loved doing the commercial so I think this will be very close to it and be just as much fun. My group and I may go and revise and make sure our plan is good and won’t fall out in the coming days to the date. Thanks for reading and listening to my filming plan.

Storyboard Blog

I’m back !! So this blog is for our story board.A story board is like an outline of how The ideal filming process will go, each box is six seconds of the music video. So for our first slide, we’re coming out of the house and we’ll throw a ball to someone behind the camera. This shot will be a close-up and a zoom in so it will look like we are throwing it at the camera. Then we will do a jump cut to someone catching the ball at the beach and serving in a volleyball game. After the game we’ll all come in for drinks. We will begin to isolate the two main characters which will be a “couple “ they will be having a conversation but it will be in inaudible. This shot won’t be a full close up because we still want it to make it known that the other people are there. The two will then walk down the beach as we do a tracking shot. they’ll stop and the male actor will caress the females cheek and slowly lean in. when the line “we can dance until we die” everyone else will come in and interrupt them. This will go from a close-up to a wide shot. We all discuss about going to get ice cream, and begin the walk (or drive if needed) to the ice cream shop. We all enter the ice cream shop happy and laughing. This will be an establishing shot. The girls go get the table and the boys will go get the ice cream while the girls laugh and talk. This shot will be a normal eye level shot. When the boys come back, we’ll all have a conversation about random things and we’ll all be smiling. This will also be an eye level shot. We head back to the cars and drop everything in the cars as we go to the pet store. This will be another tracking shot. When we get there, all the girls start admiring the puppies. This will be an establishing shot. We find a puppy and have a guy take a picture of all of us. This shot will be a wide shot. In the end, the two leads will be walking back to their cars together and in the end the male will stop the female and we’ll do a face out with their foreheads pressed together. The final shot will be a close up.

12/10: Turn in Music video
Now we're going to talk about where we're going to film and what our back up location is.We've decided to film at Lauderdale-By-The-Sea (Fort Lauderdale beach), it's the ideal area for the scene of our song. We are going to ask permission to make sure we are allowed to film there. Our back up location is my partner's backyard because she has a pool. Now it's time to talk about health and safety. Our ride to the beach is our parents. They will be there to take us to and from our set location to ensure that we will be safe. For our props we are bringing volley balls, beach balls, footballs, etc. The idea of filming at the beach is for us to have fun and capture it on camera. Now my favorite part of filming, costumes! For costumes Sage will be wearing her neon orange swimsuit and a white cover-up, she will also bring clothes such as shorts and a hoodie. Taylor will be wearing a white bathing suit top with acid washed cut off jean shorts, she will also be bringing an over sized sweater. I will be wearing swimming trunks and a white wife beater, I will also be bringing a jacket.

Music Video Research

Hey, it's me again. I just finished up my commercial project recently. We didn't really spend much time on the commercial as we promptly finished it and moved on to our new project, a music video. The commercial wasn't really difficult and was a very interesting experience. We learned how to film properly and made a  storyboard. We also began blogging more seriously and we learned how to plan properly and avoid mistakes in the filming process. We began editing and feel us as a whole developed our editing skills pretty quickly. And now that it's over we will begin our music video.
For our music video we are using the song Teenage Dream by Katy Perry. It falls within the genre of pop. The song is about a girl falling in love for first time and how it's an amazing feeling. We chose it after trying to decide what's a good song you can play along to or act to that can flow. There wasn't a fight or disagreement we all decided collectively and as a group. The song seems upbeat and really nice to make a music video to. I can't wait to start the filming process of this music video, it's going to be so fun.
Conventions for a music video are usually conveyed through the way the people dress and the setting of the video. They also are known for having distinct colors to express mood and/or have hype settings like parties. Some camera shots that are commonly used are close ups and eye level. Some common movements are pan and tracking shots. Commonly used sound in pop music is diegetic. There are also a lot of voice-overs used in the music videos. In the Teenage Dream music video a lot of colorful, beachy clothes were used. I can’t wait to start this new project.

Final Editing Blog

Hi guys! This is my final editing blog about my commercial on Zephyrhills. This process had been longer than expected, but it’s been a very fun and interesting. We finally got our laptops to edit on and they work so much smoother than the desktops in the class. My partner and I love the speed at which we can work now. When we had to transfer our clips to our desktop and then to Pinnacle Studios we had a little difficulty. It took us maybe 15-20 minutes to figure it all out, but when we did we got straight to work. I had to decide between a couple different clips to start the outline of our commercial. Our beginning run time was around 42 seconds, so I knew we had to cut the clips done by getting rid of a couple seconds off of the clips. After making the cuts our run time was around 29 seconds.
After cutting down our run time to the appropriate time I decided we should add some transitions or edits from one clip to another. I felt this would make the commercial sensible and more entertaining. We added fade-ins, fade-outs, and other edits like those for the switch between clips. The first half of the commercial seemed a little bland so we decided to spice it up and add some music to up the tempo. The music we used made the commercial look more like a commercial that can grab someone's attention and keep them tuned in. I also added a bit of the music towards the end of the commercial too. We found our music on Youtube. It took us approximately 5-10 minutes to find it so it was relatively quick. We couldn’t add music in the entire video because I was talking in most of those clips. This was by far my favorite part.
Towards the end of class I was just rewatching the commercial for about 10 minutes. I was making sure there were no errors or mistakes made. My partner and I adjusted a couple clips and made it run smoother during this time. Our time was running down so we just can it one more run down. We then saved our work to the laptop. I signed out of the computer and felt accomplished of the work we did. I then put the computer back into the cart to charge for the next class. The editing we accomplished today was great and I loved every minute of it. I can't wait to see the finished product. Thank you for listening have a terrific day!
