Music Video Research

Hey, it's me again. I just finished up my commercial project recently. We didn't really spend much time on the commercial as we promptly finished it and moved on to our new project, a music video. The commercial wasn't really difficult and was a very interesting experience. We learned how to film properly and made a  storyboard. We also began blogging more seriously and we learned how to plan properly and avoid mistakes in the filming process. We began editing and feel us as a whole developed our editing skills pretty quickly. And now that it's over we will begin our music video.
For our music video we are using the song Teenage Dream by Katy Perry. It falls within the genre of pop. The song is about a girl falling in love for first time and how it's an amazing feeling. We chose it after trying to decide what's a good song you can play along to or act to that can flow. There wasn't a fight or disagreement we all decided collectively and as a group. The song seems upbeat and really nice to make a music video to. I can't wait to start the filming process of this music video, it's going to be so fun.
Conventions for a music video are usually conveyed through the way the people dress and the setting of the video. They also are known for having distinct colors to express mood and/or have hype settings like parties. Some camera shots that are commonly used are close ups and eye level. Some common movements are pan and tracking shots. Commonly used sound in pop music is diegetic. There are also a lot of voice-overs used in the music videos. In the Teenage Dream music video a lot of colorful, beachy clothes were used. I can’t wait to start this new project.
